MJ2B Architekten wins 2012 Swiss Foundation Award

2012/07/12

Congratulations to Manuel Jüni and Beat Buri of MJ2B Architekten, winner of this year’s prestigious 2012 Swiss Foundation Award.

MJ2B Architekten AG: (L-R) Manuel Jüni and Beat Buri

Jüni and Buri won an open project contest for a Swiss school expansion in Aproz in the canton of Valais. Their design incorporated the addition of four classrooms, a multi-purpose hall with a stage, and various adjoining rooms that gracefully connected to the existing building (constructed in the 1950s). The overall design concept for this project and the authentic presentation from the firm impressed the award’s jury, which also appreciated Jüni and Buri’s courage to stay in the rural commune near Fribourg, Switzerland where they studied, as well as their desire to support the community in their own backyard.

In an effort to recognize talented young architects like Jüni and Buri, ComputerWorks Switzerland, our Vectorworks distributor in Switzerland, presents the Foundation Award every year. This year, the Swiss architectural magazine Hochparterre joined as a sponsor. Prizes included Vectorworks Architect software, training, a sponsored profile on the swiss-architects network, a professional portrait with art-tv.ch, and a Hewlett Packard printer.
