Stepping Thru Accessible Details: A Compilation from the 2010 Americans with Disabilities Act and the California Building Code for Commercial Projects by Janis Kent, AIA, CASp, is a new book for architects, landscape architects, interior designers, and anyone else involved in the built commercial environment. It includes more than 100 architectural details and specifications based on the 2010 ADA with a color-coded overlay of the 2010 California Building Codes, as well as a CD of the book.
Kent is a long-time Vectorworks user and even wrote tutorials for earlier versions of Vectorworks and MiniCAD.”Two years ago I became a Certified Access Specialist (CASp) and decided to spend all of my time on accessibility,” she said. “I increased the family of details on accessibility, of course all in Vectorworks. Earlier this year a colleague asked me why I hadn’t published it yet…so here we are less than a half a year later with another book.”
The author provided some comments from industry experts, including the following from James V. Vitale AIA, LEED, CASp: “Ms. Kent’s book represents a must addition to the technical reference libraries of architects and designers.”
The book sells for $89.95 USD and can be ordered from Kent’s Stepping Thru Accessibility website.
